The Man Behind the Mission
From Inner-City L.A.
to the World Stage
Phillip Banks Sr. — known across the tech world as Big Cyber — grew up in the inner city of Los Angeles. His journey into technology began at age 10 when he first touched a computer, and by 13 his father was sending him out on paid consulting jobs. That early investment never left him.
“Dream as big as you possibly can. Set goals that will amaze but always help the world.”
Starting in college, Phillip climbed the ranks working for Fortune 500 and multi-million dollar companies before striking out on his own — pivoting his expertise to serve small businesses, startups, and the communities that needed him most. His 30+ years of experience have taken him from boardrooms to keynote stages in Prague, Philadelphia, Portland, and Vancouver.
But technology was never just a career for Phillip. It became his family’s language. Every one of his four children codes. His daughter Keila was speaking at international conferences by age 11. Together they built Banks Family Tech — an organization devoted to bringing STEM education to youth who might never otherwise encounter it.
